Extended Warranty?

Extended Warranty?
Anyone here buy an extended warranty on their XJ(L)? I'm looking over the prices, and, frankly, they seem pretty expensive. I had an extended warranty on my CLS and it was significantly less expensive; I'm wondering if anyone here has some insight/opinions on the Jag (or 3rd party) warranties for this car...
The numbers I'm seeing for a 7 year, 100K warranty are in the 6-7K range. Considering the first 50K miles are covered, that seems REALLY high. Could the car actually need 7K in service between 51K-100K miles?
Any guesses what the long term "big ticket" items are going to be on this car? Are these things as expensive to work on as Mercedes (500 dollar oil changes, 2K single shock replacements, etc)?

When I bought my 03 XKR I had the warranty transfered to my name. It took about a week to get this accomplished and cost $75.00 for the transfer fee. I took the car to my local Jag dealer for an overall check. They found several problems that needed fixed. The total bill for repair was $2,600. Some of the minor items were not covered via the fine print in the contract, but the major items were. There was a $200.00 deductible charged for the repairs. All in all I made out pretty good. I do not intend to look for another warranty when this one expires in May this year as I store the car for the winter months. It would be a waste of money to be paying for a warranty while the car sits in storage. The price you pay for living in New England. The previous owner bought the warranty for $2400. which was for 36 months or 40,000 miles. He did not use it while he owned the car, but it helped him sell it. That was one of the reasons I bought the car. I think the best bet is to put some money aside to pay for any needed major repairs. I plan to do most of the work myself using information on the jaguar Forum. I fixed some of the minor stuff using information on the forum i.e. head rests, air bag lite, antenna switch. Rev Sam has some great videos along with other members. If you are somewhat mechanical and know a little electronics you should be OK.
