Default Front suspension rebuild kit

Hi all! I have a 2019 XJ Rsport that I picked up in the summer with 81k miles. Front suspension had a clunk and figured I’d replace in the spring but last week I hit a deep pothole that destroyed my front right tire and what feels like my suspension with it. I inspected and took it to a mechanic and we both agreed it was time.

Are any of you aware of a full front suspension rebuild kit for the X351? I know I can pull part numbers and buy individually but in my experience buying kits can be a bit cheaper. Forum search didn’t yield any results.

Thanks for your help!

David,

Here's one. It's located in China and I have no-idea of the quality.

Thank you. I'd seen a few of these kits floating around ebay but the quality was always suspect so didn't feel comfortable buying. Was trying to see if anyone has found/used anything a bit more reputable

Here's what I'm thinking for a full front suspension rebuild. Anything folks think I'm missing from this list? Would rather just do it right, get everything sorted and then alignment and new tires and she's ready to roll again for hopefully the next 80k miles. Would appreciate any and all help to find OE equivalents (like the Bilsteins) that could help save some $$$ as just parts is already quite expensive.

Thanks! I’ll update this thread as I find more and update the sheet. Been very tough finding after market equivalents or supplier information. Hopefully it helps someone that may need similar list in the future for an X351 AWD V6.

I can almost guarantee that the OES of the JLR branded parts resells those same parts to other brands. Just need to find a cross reference table. Keep in mind that you're about to spend almost 50% of the car's value on suspension parts that will not increase the value of the car. Are you sure your subframe was not damaged?

Agreed. Trying to find this look up table. Lots of the parts are stamped fomoco so trying to find Ford equivalents. Will keep looking and any help is appreciated. Mechanic didn’t say anything about subframe but will ask again. While the pothole hit was hard I think the issue was more due to low profile tires not having enough sidewall to absorb the impact and blowing out. The rim wasn’t even bent, just a pinch failure on the sidewall. It did make some of the preexisiting suspension issues worse hence my desire to fix.

I paid $20k for the car and priced in about 5-7k in expected repairs for the mileage. Agree it doesnt increase value of the car but I want to keep it and enjoy it for atleast a decade similar to my last one. This has largely been a while youre in there exercise and depending on final costs may walk back what I ultimately end up replacing.

Update: Got all the parts together finally today! Front OE shocks for Miessler Automotive not pictured.

Total cost of parts w/tax, shipping, tariffs etc to Chicago from the various parties: $5000.57
FCP Euro : $3982.51
RockAuto : $54.65
Meissler Automotive : $768.00
Jaguar OEM Parts : $101.91
Tariff Payment for Meissler Import: $93.5

Tomorrow we find the cost of labor to finally put this matter to bed and get the XJ back to its original form.

While there are some parts that will swap from Ford there is no list. The Lincoln LS was a S-Type twin so lots of common parts between these two models. We need to remember that when Ford sold off JLR they remained for years a contract manufacturer for them. So yes the parts might have FoMoCo on them but not be Ford parts. If that makes any sense?

But as the contracts ran out over time less and less was made by Ford.

What, Club said is totally correct. However, it should be remembered that the X351 and its V8, and V6, engines were designed under the stewardship of Ford. Wherever possible JLR used Ford, or easily available parts. Cross referencing of part #s can result in huge savings.

1. The anti-knock sensor from JLR is close to $200. The exact same new Ford sensor (off an F-150, or Focus), is under $20...Remember the V8 needs 4.

2. The rear suspension compressor is exactly the same as the ones used by Ford, Lincoln and the entire VW group.

3. The seat heat /cool module came from the F-150.

The point is, before you buy a JLR component, have a hunt around, you may find the exact same part at 20% of the cost. Also, in general, LR parts are 30% cheaper than the same Jaguar part.

Yes there is stuff that does swap. Also things that JLR does not service. I found the radiator drain plug was the same as any common Ford of the last 30 years or so. Dorman even sells a version for around $8. But you can only get the drain plug from JLR if you purchase a radiator!

The front upper A-Arms have apparently been the same for 20+ years starting with the LS/S-Type back around 2000.

$1500 labor to put the whole front end in from an independent mechanic which I thought to be very affordable for Chicago.

I saw the thing about the LS/S-Type but wasn't sure about the compatibility between my AWD XJ and other versions and since this is my daily, didn't want to chance it. The AWD is already quirky enough with some oddly specific parts. Once I got all of the old suspension out, I realized the things that truly needed replacing were the banana arms, sway bar links, sway bar bushings, shocks and foam in the shock mounts. I could've gone another 30-40k miles probably on all the other bits. I'm going to keep some of the unworn parts as backups in case I need them. I've wanted to own and drive an XJ forever and I'd priced in ~$5K in repairs so putting a new front end on was in the books for me regardless. I plan on keeping it for 10+ years like my other cars and FCPEuro has already saved me a bunch of money with their replacement program. Hopefully in 5 years when it needs new bits, its just the cost of shipping + a slight price difference due to inflation to keep the old Jag on the road.

That being said, she's absolutely glorious with the new suspension. Did some spirited driving over the weekend and it brought such a huge smile to my face. It's athletic, comfortable and fast. I love it!!
