Got my 2012 XJL Supercharged
I traded in my 750 Li and got a white XJL supercharged on new year's eve and so far I've really enjoyed it.
I started with an Internet based request for proposal from all the dealers within 70 miles. The initial proposal were coming in at around $3000 off MSRP. After a few rounds of back and forth with a couple of dealers that seemed really eager to make the deal, my final price was $9300 off MSRP plus the winning dealer (Galpin Jaguar) gave me the Blue Book value (based on "Fair" condition; my 750Li was in "Good" condition; but, it was still quite a good offer) for my trade-in.
First impressions:
The cockpit - it feels like the cockpit of a superpower race boat.
The ride - some have commented that it rides a little hard. My old car was a 750Li with Sports package so it rode very hard so I am used to the harder ride, which I also prefer over the cushy softer feel.
The transmission is one of the smoothest I have ever felt. Some may disparage by pointing out it only has 6 gears vs. 8 on some other luxury performance sedans, but unless you are racing it doesn't make any difference.
The power - it is really impressive. It accelerated effortlessly. I was on the freeway and I got up to 100mph and it felt like I was going at 50.
The fit and finish is superb.
My only complaint is that the rear window is too small and too high with very limited visibility. I almost wish I could turn on the rear camera as I'm driving.

Sounds like you made a good deal.
Yeah, the rear window is a gunslit and fairly worthless--the price you pay for a sleek roofline and a tall trunk. Thank goodness for the blindspot monitors in the side mirrors because this car has very poor visibility out the right rear. Even when I do a head check I don't always immediately see everything in that area--I've learned to be very careful changing lanes to the right.

BMWs are well made, but IMHO are now in a styling rut that Jaguar have now escaped from.
Actually, I love the old Jaguar styles but then I am getting a bit old now. I wish I could have my Mark 2 back !!

I'm new to the forum. If permitted can you indicate the MSRP and confirm that yours is a 2012. I'll be ordering my XJL SC shortly and am not too far from the Galpin store.
Best of luck with the new Jag.

Yes. It's a 2012. The MSRP was $92475. Ask for Robert Katch at Galpin. He was great and very knowledgeable, unlike most of the sales guys at other dealers. Most of those idiots are too damned lazy to learn about the product they are trying to sell.
That is an amazing price, in the UK the same model would be in excess of £90000 , around $140000 before any discounts. I am amazed how we have to pay so much for the cars even though they are made here !!!!

You can tell Robert that Louis referred you. Tell him I was the guy that was referred to them by the people at Spyker.
Good luck. Hopefully, you will get a even better deal.

By the way, most dealer would only negotiate higher discounts on cars that they have on the lot. Galpin got me the specific car that I saw at Rusnak via a dealer trade; the car had just arrived at the lot and hadn't even been prep yet. Too bad for the guys at Rusnak, I would have agreed to a deal with them had they been willing to reduce it by just a couple of hundred more. Galpin's deal ended up being almost $800 better than I was asking for at Rusnak.
Thanks for the reply. Spoke w/ Robert yesterday - yes, you received a great price as it was end of Jag's fiscal year. Your timing was perfect. They can still work out a good price for me at a little over invoice - you were quite a bit under invoice.
Thanks for your help with this.

Rusnak in Pasadena may still have some deals on 2011 Supersports (if there are any left).
Also, look at www.truecar.com for pricing.
I think if he started at $20,000 off, you can definitely get him to go to $25,000. They need to get rid of the the 2011s.
The best offer I got among several dealers initially was $3000 off. It took some creative negotiation before I got to $9,300 off.
