Heated Windshield

Heated Windshield
Has anyone chosen the the "heated windshield" option on the XJ? I heard mixed reviews about it before I placed my order. Some people complained about the lines in the windshield (especially with certain glasses) while others thought it was a good idea in cold climates especially if the car would be parked outside a lot.
I chose not to get it at the time I placed my order.
Can this be installed by the dealer or would it have to have been a factory installed option?

Good friend of mine got his WITH the heated windshield. He does NOT like it and said he would have prefered without, because of the lines being a bit weird in certain light conditions. Initially I wanted it, but after I saw his car, I am glad I don't have it. And we are in Chicago, meaning we know a thing or two about cold climates.

Thanks for the feedback.
Among other things I think I have too much time on my hands leading up to Christmas, but I stopped by the dealer to take a look at the heated windshield. About half of the cars had it, the other half did not.
Perhaps because I was focused on it or because there is nothing I can do about it now anyway, but it was kind of odd looking to me. Even in the showroom, the wavy lines reflected off of the lighting in a weird way.
I think if I had ordered it, I would have gotten used to it, but since I did not, I am ok about it.

According to my dealer, they have had a few instances in the past where people have wanted the heated windshields taken out due to the issues raised. Although they claim that they can do it (for about $3300!!!!), they have never installed a heated windshield at the dealer. Can you imagine paying almost 10x the factory installed price! gears, you are right, this does not make sense.
