Hello forum members! I hope all of you who come across this are doing very well. My hood alignment is a bit skewed, and while it is slightly annoying, I haven’t been in a rush to go spend money to have it fixed. I just spent what is a lot of money for me to acquire the vehicle and bring it to California and get it all registered and in tip top shape. Mechanically, everything is amazing and I’m absolutely loving driving this vehicle!
However, I decided to look a little closer today and I saw that this misalignment with my hood is resulting in the hood making contact with the driver’s side headlight. Luckily, I have PPF on the headlights, but I know that it would not good, and presumably would cause damage, if left unattended.
Does anyone out there have the ability to help me here? Is there specific advice to resolve this matter? I imagine that I’ll likely get advice to take it into Jaguar and ask them to fix it. Do any of you have experience with this issue? I’ve attached pictures. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated!!! THANK YOU!!!
Hi any good body shop would be able to realigned this no problem , these cars were made in Birmingham England were tea breaks are more important than leaving a first class job , Have seen a few like that in my time
To my eye it looks like the passenger (US) side of the hood isn't latched down properly. Try opening the hood and evening it a 'moderate slam".
If that doesn't work, open the hood again. You should see a number off rubber bump stops for the hood. These can be adjusted so that the hood sits level.
Hey wombat! That was exactly what I was looking for. =) THANK YOU for replying with such helpful information!!! I raised the rubber bump stop on the driver’s side and slightly lowered the one on the other side, as it was nearly as low as it could go already. The uneven gap is gone and it looks great, not to mention my headlight is much safer.
During the past seven to ten days, I had experimented with different ways of closing the hood, but I always made sure that it was properly latched on both sides, so I knew that wasn’t the issue. It’s funny, I had seen those rubber bump stops and I even slightly adjusted one earlier today, but I didn’t want to tinker with it, out of fear that I could mess something up. Now I know that I can make such an adjustment and it couldn’t be easier. THANKS AGAIN for your terrific assistance!!!
I just had the hoods on the '12 and the 575 open next to each other, (vacuuming leaves and pollen if you must know), both have 4 bump stops. Two are inboard of the headlights and two outboard.
Hope that helps anyone who needs to fine tune the bonnet alignmemt.
