Dealer will typically want to do rotors at the same time. Although if you have then measure the specs they prob don’t need doing yet. Dealer typically runs around $1000 per axle for pads, rotors and the wear sensor. If you buy the pads (and if rotors are ok) you can do it yourself (or a local Indy) for probably a third of that.

Different animal but I have just replaced the front pads on my 1999 XJR, as I intended to do some light track work I went with a Pagid pad (actually for a Porsche) and have just mounted a set of drilled rotors on the front. I am about to replace the rear pads I had to source from the local agents here in NZ, I think Tata must own a brake pad manufacturing business as they were ‘manufactured in India’ to Jaguar specifications.
Get the part number for the pads and google it, you will find a few suppliers that can offer good prices.

My Dealer gets me 2 sets of pads per rotor replacement. The pads installed run @ $350-400/axle and pads/rotor is @ $800 per axle. I have had several XJs and learned that the best brakes performance, for me, was using OEM. They do make dust but they have NEVER faded and I've driven the car pretty hard at times. Also, the one time I drove so hard (racing on a closed circuit) to warp the rotors my dealer did a spare parts warranty for the pads and rotors all around. I didn't buy the XJ to be cheep but to enjoy the experience!

Keep in mind that I did the job myself, but the whole job cost me like $50 for the rear axle. The pads were not that expensive (bought a brand other than Jaguar OEM) and the rotors had sufficient meat left on them. From there, it was a little bit of time and the pads came off and went back on. The big trick is knowing how to reset the e-brake system. In my case, it was nothing more than a few pulls of the e-brake lever at the caliper itself to seat the pads and put the piston in the correct location. Please keep in mind that I have a NA 5.0L XJ, with the "small rotor" package. I know the supercharged cars have a slightly larger brake package. Wish you lived close to me. I would tell you to come on over and we could do the job for just the cost of parts.

Look good also not too much brake dust once the rotor coating has gone (which sucked)
