In my opinion the Supersport has 3 advantages;
1) Rev Matching on downshift. I absolutely love this.
2) No ECO stop/start. Just not a fan. Especially in hot weather
3) Supersport is more exclusive. Full leather headliner is gorgeous

You can't go wrong either way

Does anybody know if it's indeed illegal for a dealership to divulge the service records of a car before actually buying it? I tried calling Jaguar of Thousand Oaks to inquire about any possible records on this XJ and the woman very snootily told me no. They would only divulge the service records to the current registered owner. True or false?

Have you checked the Carfax for the XJ. BTW as a SuperSport owner, I had originally ordered a 2012 and due to them delaying the production date to late in the model year I rolled my order over the 2013 because of the 2013 updates. Jaguar was even offering me a "deal you cannot refuse" on the 2012 and I told them do not tell me the number as the updates for 2013 were so extensive and I wanted the 2013 "refresh". Yes the interior is Semi Analyn and the headliner is leather, but the Audio is so much better as is the ride, transmission, and NAV.

The Carfax doesn't show any services at all unfortunately.

Yes, I've read that the 2013 and aboves are much improved over the 2011-2012s.

You would probably be able to get the service records if you went to that dealer with the VIN and spoke directly with service manager. Explain that it's for sale and you're interested in buying it but there are no service records on CarFax and you know it was serviced there. Ask if they can provide you with the service records if they black out the owner's identifying information. Except for privacy laws, I doubt that it's illegal for a dealership to disclose service records ... but, well, it's California and ???

A couple of cold 6-packs can be very persuasive!

When doing a google search of the VIN, several of the prior owner's posts from various enthusiast websites show up, along with his contact info. So I've sent him an email politely asking about the history of the car. Hopefully he won't be bothered.

The dealer has emailed me several times asking what it will take to make a deal but they are still reluctant to accept my offer. Hopefully they'll agree by the weekend.

Hey guys I have a question...I just noticed, according to the Carfax, the car was sold as a Jaguar CPO back in December 2014. The CPO warranty lasts 7 years from original in-service date or 100k miles...so, this car should still be under warranty correct?

Well was it qualified for CPO or did it have a CPO warranty?
Two different things.

My CPO is 100K/6 years so there are variations too. Don't assume or trust anything that's not in writing!
Be sure and get the "in service date" of the car as that's when the clock starts running. My 2014 ran out of the 4 year warranty in August 2017.

If it was truly sold as a CPO, then it should still be covered. The car is a 2014 model; right? So the earliest it could have been built would be late 2013. Odds are it was a 12 month lease or something similar if it was sold as a CPO roughly a year later. You should be able to confirm its warranty status with JLR if you have the VIN. That would certainly make it more appealing! On the other hand, as clubairth1 said: don't assume anything! Get verification!

Confirmed! I just called Jaguar of Thousand Oaks and they confirmed its still under warranty until 2020/100k miles. That definitely sweetens the pot!

Warranty is good! My recently acquired (and much enjoyed!) ‘14 will be covered until 12/14/21... preposterous!

Get it!

Ha! My XJL was originally delivered to Thousand Oaks! I called them for the below pic and they were more than accommodating!

Ok. It's settled. Christ willing and barring some force majeure, this deal is going down tomorrow. I would've gone tonight if I didn't have an office dinner to attend. I won't be able to sleep tonight.
