Jag rental
Okay so I have a pro protection package that needs to be done on my Xjl.. My car is not brand new so I am not sure if brand new buyers only get Jaguar rentals while there car is being serviced.. Anyway my service agent says its okay to request a Jaguar while mine is in the shop but it has been almost 2 myths and they say no jaguars are available.. Is it me or is this just unacceptable.

The dealership I use gives me a Jag or a Land Rover to drive if either the XKR or the XJL is being serviced.
I just sold an 05 XJR and my Jag dealer always provided me with free use of a very nice vehicle. I never had to rent one even though the car was well out of warranty. Mostly I received another Jaguar. Sometimes I got a nice Land Rover. Frankly I enjoyed sampling different models and welcomed receiving something different than what I was used to.
I think they have a right to provide what they want to. But if they want you as a returning customer they should pay attention to your requests as long as you book the repair well in advance so they can prepare for you.

There you have it- it's a myth.
The dealer I formerly used (patooey) had a few beat up X-types as loaners. Otherwise, low end domestic crap. Bah.

My dealer has a few Jag loaners to be given out to customers for free. If those cars are gone than the choices are some low end Enterprise rentals. While I prefer Jags as loaners I do not fuss much over a cheap one either as it usually is only for a single day. Besides, my two previous free Jag loaners (XJL and XF) resulted in me later purchasing both of those models. So, it seems to be a good practice for the dealer to supply me with Jag loaners.

My local dealer (Crest in Woodbridge, CT) has worked on my car under warranty and always offered a free loaner, but never a Jaguar. Crest also sells Lincoln and Ford, and I always ended up with a domestic car, sometimes a Mercury. It was no big deal, driving an appliance on wheels made the experience of getting back in my car feel like the first time all over again.
