Default Jaguar XJ a "cheap" Bentley?

I heard someone who drove the XJ say that recently. As an Ower of both a Benz S550 and XJL, I can say that the XJ has a much more luxurious feel. But how is it compared to the Bentley? XJ is a cheap Bentley? Is that an accurate analogy? My Jag is Fully loaded with the heated wood/ leather steering wheel, massaging seats and the 1300 watt meridian reference system with dual rear monitors. I can't imagine the Bentley being that much more "luxurious". I looked at a top of the line Bentley mulssane and it had similar features including almost identical looking seat levers Wondering if anyone who's driven both can give an opinion. Thanks

I've not driven a Bentley but, having owned a Rolls-Royce prior to my Jaguar, I feel safe in saying the Bentley is a far superior automobile, justifying its far higher cost.

The Flying Spur feels like it was hewn from a block of solid granite. The material quality, fit and finish is on another level compared to the XJ.

Rolls/Bentley are on a totally different place of existence than Jaguar. The Jaguar is great but quite frankly it is pretty much identical to most $40k-$60k cars it is just more expensive. I would NEVER pay full price for it as I think it is extremely overpriced. That it drops by 50% after 1 year is the only reason I own one. That greater price does not get you much more except some level of exclusivity. It isn't particularly comfortable or have a wonderfully luxurious ride. An XTS will beat it out on most performance and luxury measures any day of the week.

Do you have that massive rear seat option?
With the reclining power seats in the rear?

Hard to find an XJ with the back seat monitors and the reference Meridian sound system.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I mentioned in another thread that my Lincoln Navigator rides as well if not better than my XJL. It certainly does not however, have the panache of the Jaguar!

Thinking of your Jaguar as a cheap Bentley is akin to those folks in the 1970's who spent a few hundred bucks on those fiberglass kits to make a VW Beetle look like a miniature Rolls-Royce. The term for that kind of thinking is "delusional".
