how do you re-program a new key to a xjl 2011 lost me key purchased a new one now the car won't respond to the new key

 

The new key probably needs the chip programmed.
Call a good locksmith that has a "mobile" key programmer to come and do it for you .
Did mine in Dallas two weeks ago . Programming was $40.00 . You may be charged for road service as well,

I bougt a preprogrammed key from a Jag dealer in Fort Lauderdale, FL and brougth home to Suriname (south America) to activate it on my XJ 2009 van der plas and can't get it activated.
Does one of you know how to do that?

You must have bought a Smartkey with the emergency key blade precut for your vehicle?

The dealer cannot program the Smartkey without the vehicle. It needs to be connected to their diagnostic system (or an independent with similar level diagnostic equipment) to program Smartkey to vehicle.
