Default Which looks better- XJ or XJL ?

I know it's a subjective question, but in the previous X350 model, the long-wheel base looks better. For the new XJ I think the standard car looks better.
Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Wolfy

I purchased the XJL exactly for the only reason over the less expensive XJ that it looked better than the short wheel base. I never carry extra passengers in the back so really did not need the extra length. However, from the side, for me the XJL looks definitely longer and thus, sleeker. Also, I did not care for the XJs narrower rear doors. Visually I like the front and back doors to be the same size.

XJ. Whenever I drive a long wheelbase Jag (or any other top of the line sedan for that matter) I feel I should be wearing one of those little black chauffer's caps! Not sporty enough IMHO.

XJL - the elongated rear doors make this car look more upscale.

The L for me. I think that the curving roofline looks much more natural in the longer car. The standard wheelbase car looks quite squat in comparison.

Plus, any car that makes it physically impossible for the kids to kick the back of my seat is a total win for me!

for me its always been the L.......in the newer models the difference is negligible...but for the older models the L's look so much nicer

L without a doubt. Love the looks of my friends when they get in the backseat for a ride anywhere. They feel like they're royalty with all of the room, lol.

I actually prefered the short wheelbase in the previous model but for me ( I know I am biased haha) i really think the newer one looks better in LWB form, the proportion of the doors and the side view is brilliant and looks so long and sleek.

yes of course there is always a subjective aspect to appearance....would have to look at the research again...but i think we are talking a 113 inch wb...for the xj...and i believe 119 inch wb for the L....at least up to 2003/4 model.....i am not a lover of the 05...and up don't get me wrong its still a beauty...so for me the earlier models of the L...look more ballanced and yes almost limosoune like in appearance....which made me fall in love with it.....

Bought a XJ b/c I feel the proportions of the L are a bit off as with most stretched sedans. I know I'm in the minority b/c long wheel base versions of most high end sedans sell better than their shorter siblings. Personal opinion.

The standard-wheelbase looks better in nearly every car imho, esp the X350.

However with the new X351 it's a closer call due to the styling.

I'm 6'4" so the #1 reason I went with the XJL was to give anyone who sits behind me some added legroom. I would have gone with the XJL regardless of which one I thought had better styling. Nonetheless, I have to agree with the majority that the XJL is a better looking car than the XJ.

I think the long wheel base looks best in the standard and supercharged XJs.
However, short wheel base further accentuates the sporty character of both the Supersport and any XJ equipped with the Sport and Speed packs (like mine, hehehe...)
