I am trying to access the front lower mesh intakes. Has anyone removed the lower bumper cover.? Was it difficult? How many bolts? Does removing it give access to the back of the lower intakes? Thank you.
niceguy753, I have removed them on my car. You have 2 options. The more difficult path is to lift the front end of the car up so you can remove about 16 torx screws holding the plate on the under side of the bumper. The trick to this is you have 2 bolts (1 on each side) that are under some trim that are not really obvious. They are holding the plate to the vents. You will need 2 different size torx bits (27 and 35 as I recall). You will also need an 8mm socket for 3 fasteners in each wheel well.
Option 2 is to remove the air box on each side (band holding the intake to the box and 2 screws holding the air box in place as I recall). You then remove the air box from the car and you can reach all the way down to undo the fasteners holding the vent in place. Make sure to get the 1 fastener on each side on the underside of the bumper. That one is not obvious and will make you cuss up a storm to figure out why things are not coming apart.
