Default lowest mileage 2014 Jaguar XJL?

Hi all, we have a 2014 Jaguar XJL with about 8.5k miles on it. Would this be amongst the lowest mileage XJLs for that model year?

I'm sure this car must be out of warranty period. What are some things to look out for post-warranty with a Jaguar XJL?

We are debating how long to keep the XJL, and reliability / maintenance are key considerations. Are there major reliability / maintenance concerns over time for a 2014 XJ / XJL?

And given the low mileage, what types of things would you look out for, in terms of maintenance / reliability for this model year?

Deseo, if you are going to have a problem, I am placing money that it will either be the water pump (many designs, think they have it right now) failing or ironically you are going to have fuel injector problems due to getting bad gas into the motor if you are not driving the car periodically and using up the gas and/or not treating the gas when you are leaving it sit for a long time. One of the hardest things you can due to a car is to let it sit believe it or not. Getting it out say every 2 weeks to drive 10 miles or so will do the car good.

The last thing that I would keep a close eye on is the battery. I am sure you are using a battery tender to keep the battery up to 100% charge. I would also say that based on the year of car, you will most likely be due for a new battery here soon. This is where a load test is going to be your best friend. You measure that and you find that it is dropping below 75%, you are likely to start having issues. Replace the battery before the problems start. It will be oddity things like getting a check engine light randomly that you can clear and will remain away for a period of time then come back. Each car has a different thing it does.

I presume that you have never had the brake fluid flushed and refilled. If so, it's been 7 years and you should have it done because brake fluid absorbs water and other contaminants, which result in poor brake performance or failure.

Better safe than sorry!

For everything you've ever wanted to know about brake fluid, read this - from the X150 Forum (XK/XKR):

Yes cut thru all the BS and just change the fluid. As with EVERY fluid in your car it's needs to be changed.
But it's your car and you can do what you want.

Thank you! I recently had all fluids changed - oil, coolant, brake fluids, as well as all filters.
