My 2013 XJ Supersport Arrived
Beautiful car! Do your side vents say Supersport? It doesn't look like it from the pictures but its hard to tell. I had an interesting Jaguar screw up with my car. One side vent says Supercharged like it's supposed to, but the other side vent says Supersport. My dealer said they would fix it under warranty, but I left them that way to remind me that Jaguars can still be quirky British cars.
Only 3 weeks I now have over 1300 miles on the car and have had it to the dealer to change the side vents to the proper ones that say SuperSport from the no name ones inadvertently installed at the factory, and that was no easy task as they have 4 bolts holding each of them on and necessitated the r& r of the inner fender covers around the wheels and the r & r of the windshield washer tank on the right side. Also had the instrument cluster display changed as there was a stuck on red pixel. Lastly had the exhaust tips aligned as they were not “perfect”. In my driving I have adjusted the tire pressures to 35psi for best ride/handling and the cat just is now stuck to the road and the ride is firm but not bounty or jittery. I have an inquirery into changing the keys to the later release that is smaller and lighter and will report back on that.
Contact your dealer in a week or two as Jaguar will be releasing a service bulletin for cars below vin V41896. this will address the keys on early cars. When you call mention K140. They will know what it means.
What is the brown thing on the ceiling? Is it a sunglass holder? I first noticed this on the XJL Supersports. On those LWB models..."whatever that option was" was nestled between the two rear vanity mirrors. Just curious.
Now that I have had the Cat 2 days and have a grand total of 118 miles, here are my initial impressions. I am taking it easy so far and only use 1/3rd of the accelerator pedal movement and it is scary fast already. I have had it up to 90 and cruised at 80mph (no steady running yet during my break-in period) and the tack reads 1700RPM. So the 8 speed is set very tall on 7th and 8th gears. This transmission is so sweet glad I waited. I am still up in the air about the stop/start feature, but have found that when at a stop is I have lighter pressure on the brake pedal and the car is not moving the engine stays lit and with firm pressure the engine does the stop/start. The stop/start initially was a little rough but is smoothing as the Cat and I become more acquainted with each other. The Meridian audio is fantastic and the only car audio that I have heard that might be a tad better are custom builds. When set on the Meridian configuration each passenger has said that the surround effect made them feel in the middle of the listening area. Next the suspension, initially there was a lot of “jiggle” and as the tires have worn in that has reduced but is still there a bit. Since I have the Speed package and therefore a top end of 174mph the technician set the tires at 39psi, so I plan to play with the tire pressure since I can run it as low as 32psi, so I’m of going to try 35psi to start from and see how it feels and play around to find what works best. Stay tuned and I’ll be updating again. Here are some photos, and as for the question about the headliner only the center sections all the way back are perforated and as this is a SuperSport the headliner is all leather. Stay tuned
I believe the unit on the ceiling is to do with the wireless linking of headphones to the AV system.
Does this bulletin apply to 2012 models too?
Went to dealer this AM and got the new "keys" under the K140 Program, they are definitely smaller and lighter, but not as distinctive. Here are a couple of photos.
Those are the same keys for the '12 and newer Rovers as well (just with a LR logo in place of the Jaguar logo)
