Need someone smart to explain!
I was having issues with the right front speaker rattling during high bass in my wife's 2012 XJL and was unsure what to do until I found this short 22 second video.

I performed that simple fix after removing the door panel and the issue went away. For the life of me I cant figure out how or why that would fix it but it did. If someone can explain that I would greatly appreciate it!

The voice coil surround on these jag speakers isn't glued properly from the factory and it fails then the voice coil doesn't float properly. If the magnet and the voice cool are touching it causes the distortion, sometimes hitting it will get it floating properly again. Also once the surround fails completely it will sound blown. Permanent fix is to Re-glue the surround. Pretty easy to do and makes speakers play like new.

I'm the one who posted the video. I've had this issue pop up and all the dealerships and people who looked at it told me the speaker was fine and to deal with it. I knew that a $70,000 car wasn't suppose to sound like that, so I tore the door off myself and started to poke around. I thought it was something in the door, but as I unmounted the speaker it was still rattling so it had to be on the speaker. I flipped the stupid thing over, pressed that dimple, and it went away. My mind was blown and I was both super irritated that no one at either my independent shop or the Jaguar dealership knew about this. It's been a few months and it still sounds good as new. Glad my video helped.
