Hi guys,
I've swapped my old 2012 XJ to a brand new 2020 XJ portfolio.
I have some questions for you:
1) I cannot play movies on the dual mode Incontrol plus 10" display.
I really cannot find a good tutorial to learn how it works.
2) I would like to play movies while driving from a USB memory stick, but if I put a mp4 file on the memory stick it doesn't appear on the incontrol system and the USB button isn't clickable because it is dark.
3) I would like to put on the same memorystick (USO 128Gb) some folders with music inside; basically I would like to: 3 folders with 3 different music genre (techno/classical/babies) and I would like to select the folder and the songs in it from the incontrol display but in this case the USB button isn't clickable because it is dark.
4) Even if I would like to copy to internal memory from USB it is impossible because the button USB is dark.
I've formatted the USB memory in FAT then FAT32 then ExFAT but it is always dark.
I've changed the memory stick but it is the same.
I tried to put on the memory single mp3 files (without folders) but always the same issue. it daesn't work.
Can someone help me to solve this?
5) there is a way to operate an external display mounted with a support on rear headrest? Like an ipad or similar directly from the main 10" display? Should it work if connected to USB port or HDMI port?
Any suggestion on the tablet I have to use to do this?
Should be great to have this while driving with children on the back.
Did you use the same stick (128GB) on the 2012 XJ?
I had a similar problem on my XJ. I could not access the stick. The capacity of the stick (32GB) was to big. It worked fine for me with a smaller capacity (I am using a SanDisk Cruzer Blade 16GB). And I arranged my music just like you, folders named as genres. Now I can browse the different folders and play the music I want.
Congrats!
Can u pls confirm yours is a 2020?
I thought the latest model for sale today is 2019. Sorry, not to be nitpicky, but we're picking up our brand new 2019 XJ this wkend, & don't wanna be ripped off if new 2020 is avail instead...lol
This may be of no help whatsoever, as I have a USA model 2012. Nonetheless, I have learned that all music on a USB stick must be of the same format, and .mp4 is not supported. I had to reformat my music to MP3 (44100 Hz sample rate, 128kbps bit rate) in order to play on a 16Gb FAT stick. I only have two sub-folders usable, so I can play or shuffle individual artists or play individual songs. But even though the songs are in albums, there's no way to select that sub-folder. You should be able to have three genres on one sub-folder and the ability to select or shuffle within the genre. Your stick may be too big. Have you tried one with a smaller capacity? Also the USA cars do not have a dual display front screen, maybe this feature is blocked in Italy, too? Don't know if this is any help but I had a 2018 Range Rover Discovery loaner a while back, and it did play a mixed-format stick, which proved to me that the stick wasn't at fault.
