New XJ Owner - Snow Setup Help
Hello, new to the form and owing a Jag, so thank you in advance for any advice.
We recently purchased a 2019 XL 3.0L V6 AWD R-Sport and looking for the best snow setup.
We've been searching on line and asked our local tire shop and even the jag dealership but all we have been told is "sorry we don't have anything available for that vehicle' .
- What are you using on you vehicle using this winter?
- Would you recommend staying with a staggered set up or changing to a winter square set up? If so what rim (size) and tires would you choose?
Any advice be appreciated, thanks

Ducky90, there are lots of thoughts on this and I will give you mine. While I don't have an AWD XJ, I did have the AWD X-Type. The car was great in the winter and I stuck with the same tires I used in the summer which were an all-season tire. now, the XJ is going to have a pro and a con to it as it relates to the X-Type. The con is that the engine has more power, so, much easier to spin the tires with. The pro is you have a button (has a snowflake on it) and that is wonderful in the winter. The winter button forces the car to start out in second gear. This is going to limit the torque the wheels get, helping you maintain traction. It also allows for a limited amount of slip to help you power through some situations. No matter what you do (other than turning off DSC), the car is going to attempt to limit power and maximize traction. Turning off DSC (the car skidding out of control) does have an advantage if you are well versed in driving in snow. I used to turn it off to allow a limited amount of drifting with the car on icy roads. Me applying too much power. You betcha. was I having fun. Of Course.
Remember, this is not a lifted truck with mud tires. You get into snow deep enough that it starts to pack under the car, the quality of your tires is not going to matter. stick to 6" (15cm) or less of snow and you will be fine when using a quality all-season tire. On my 2wd XJ, I have had good luck with the Continental DSW06's.

Ducky90, as for how to edit your posts, if you look in the block of your post, you should see some buttons in the bottom right corner. the left most button should say "edit". that will bring your post back up, make your changes, then hit "post reply".
Hi,
My XJ are RWD. I live in Finland, where ice, snow and low temp are still common thing in wintertime. Driwing lot of long distances, so i bought four et45, 9" wide, 18" rims for non-staggered setup and 245/45-18 studded wintertyres on them. Have been working very well. 18" because higher sidewall give more traction for tyre on snow. However: Not all 18" rims fit on XJ, so better to go on tyreshop and test. Front calibers need space.
The reason i want to go narrover tyre on rear are that on snow/ice it is all about pointforce.
However: its all about where you live: If the snow do not pack and frose concrete hard ice on the roads in your area, you might be good with all-seasons.
