Default O2 sensor

Hi, new member here and I'll start with thanking everyone on this forum, as I found it very useful as I contemplated my recent Jaguar purchase.

Three days ago I became the proud owner of a CPO 2013 XJ AWD with just under 4000 miles.

On my 2nd drive in the car, the check engine light came on. I tightened the gas cap hoping that would be a simple fix, but the light stayed on, so today it went to the shop where it was found to have a faulty O2 sensor.

Is an O2 sensor problem fairly common? I assume that check engine light issues are common, as 2 of the other people bringing their cars in for service this morning also had their check engine lights on! Should I be concerned that this happened within 5 miles after leaving the dealership with my new purchase?

The people in the service department were very friendly, but I'd rather be out driving my new car!!

You are correct; check engine lights are common, particularly on new cars on cold mornings. For some reason Jaguar set some smog parameters too tight in the software and on cold morning those parameters can be exceeded. Most of the time all is needed is to widen those software parameters. Usually it is NOT an O2 sensor issue. I had the same issue when my '12 XJL was new.
