Are brake pads covered under warrant?
2012 xjl. Just turned 2 years old. About 16,000 Miles. Just had the 30,000 or 2 year service about a month ago. Now the brakes sometimes squeal in the morning. Will there be a warning light when they need replacing? Will they be covered under warranty?
I believe the 2012s didn't have the full warranty like the 2011s.
You will most likely have to pay to have it done. I was given an estimate of $1900 for front and rears rotors/pads for my 2012 XF.

AFAIK, these cars don't have a brake pad wear warning light or message. However, it is likely you will only need pads at 16k miles. Stuff like pads and discs is usually never covered on warranty, unless defective.
Not sure about Jaguar policy regarding brakes. If the squeal only in the morning, I doubt that they would be worn down metal-to-metal. That would produce a strong grinding noise.
I had my 2012 brake rotors and pads replaced free within the 1st year of warranty because they did produce a shudder during stops from freeway speeds. If your only complaint is the squeal the solution would likely be as simple as applying some dry lubricant to the back of the brake pads. That will most likely get rid of the squeal.

Actually they do, you get a message saying check brake pads or something. It's happened to me. The 2011 have the pads covered under warranty. But I believe they'll only change each set twice.
