@jamjax - thanks for the heads up on the tint - I completely agree with the safety aspect. It gets REALLY hot in Houston and the tint even though 3M does start fading after a year and so on. I just don't want people to know who's driving. The car is kind of douchey (no disrespect to anyone) - also I'm in my early 30's and get a lot of flack for such a nice ride - people just hate you know. I want to keep it low key. These changes are suttle enough and appreciated by those who know the car

@barryf43 I'm just going to get a led strip aftrmarket and install on the lower grill on the front. Have them wired to stay on all the time when the car is on. I know a bit too Audi - but I'm currently trying to look for a style that is not super bright or shaped like the Audi of the Merc. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Lol wut? Kind of douchey?

Please explain.

For some dumb reason they made that a dealers option meaning the dealership has to do it then its just the low beam and the signature lights which has to be the laziest daytime running lights in existence.

Car looks amazing XJSUPERSPORT..... Im struggling on whether to black out my black XF or leave a little chrome on it. The wheels are 20" and blacked out and the only color coming through is from the red calipers... did you black out your lights? What did you use for application?
Thanks Man!

Sorry about the late response, been super busy. I actually did not black out the lights. I did have my calipers colored red too though. I've made a few other changes that enhance the look too though. I'll post some more pics soon

Default So I just blacked out my chrome with a local plasti-dip guy

As you can see from the pics, I did my Grilles, both upper and lower, window trim, rear lower valance, fender grilles, door handle inserts, rear jaguar leaper and removed the "XJ" emblems.

Theres both pros and cons with using this method.

Pros:

CHEAP - got the whole job done for $300
TEMPORARY - if you want to go back to stock, the coating peels off.
QUICK - Job done in 4 hours
CONVENIENT - Installer comes to you and does the job as you watch

Cons:

TEMPORARY - If you want a permanent finish application will have to be re-touched as you go and mod lasts for 3 years before peeling.

Here are some pics of my de-chromed Supercharged.

The plastic-dip feels rubbery the first few days but after a week or so turns into a plastic shell that is actually pretty durable and will withstand car washings.

I obviously would have done my wheels in black if I would be keeping them but I have a set of new ones being made in polaris white so I will be getting rid of my oem 20's.
