Default Pedestrian Protection System Warning

Hi guys,
I am getting a "Pedestrian Protection System Warning". According to my mechanic, it's due to the AirBag Control Unit Module. Can I get a used unit? My mechanic says that he can reprogram it to match my car. However, he is advising me to get a new unit instead of a used one. Has anybody tried using a used unit successfully?

Has he diagnosed this using Jaguar SDD to get a confirmatory error code? The usual cause of a PPS warning is a faulty sensor (see item 7).

However, the RCM (Restraints Control Module - item 5) has had three versions on the X351 so it is clearly not robust. For this reason alone, I'd go with his advice about a new one.

Graham
