Default Performance upgrades?

Hello, so I have a 2012 XJ and I have been looking for a good programmer or tune for some minor performance upgrades but mostly to remove the speed governor but can’t seem to find any. Does anyone have some advice or know of any good products?

You can remove (set to 217mph) the speed limiter with SDD. The software is free online but you need to buy a cable, get a power supply, and have a laptop with Win 7-32.

That sounds really useful but is there any alternative?

A normally-aspirated engine will never have the low-end torque provided by a supercharger.

Save your money and put it towards buying a 2013-up XJ with the 5.0L SC engine, 8-speed transmission, and Meridian Surround Sound system. You'll be glad you did.

Removing the speed limiter without upgrading your tires to the comparable speed rating is a recipe for disaster. Be safe, not sorry. Tires are not the only improvements that may be needed.

No XJ ever had a speed limiter set to 217 mph. Mine is now at 200 mph from the VAP stage II tune. Stock my XJR was limited to 174 mph. ALL other XJ's are much less and a lot of them were set at 121 mph from the factory because of tire limitations. Note mine can and has exceeded the stock 174 mph number so the car has the ability IF you have enough road!

I also have SDD and no one has used this to adjust the speed limiter?
Can you point out where it is in SDD? I have used it a good bit but as always there is a bunch I don't know!

You need to edit the car config file in SDD. There are a few options to set it to from the drop down. I moved mine from 194kph(121mph) to 350kph(217mph). I think it could only reach that falling off a cliff. There are lots of other nice modifications you can make. i enabled global open and close from the remote and dash button, turned off the DRL, and removed the 30s auto relock. There are a lot of parameters without any real description so you need to be careful, keep good notes, and just change one parameter at a time..
