Default TC Performance Tuning – Any Experience?

Hello everyone,

Apologies if this is a noob question, but has anyone had any experience with TC Performance? They claim to have a tuning solution that could add 15+ HP, and I’m curious if anyone here has tried it and what the results were.

For context, I’ve already ordered the Mina Gallery CAI and am currently deciding on which high-flow rear mufflers to replace my stock silencers. I'm a big Walker fan and leaning toward Dynomax VTs, as I had a great experience using them on another Ford in the past. Has anyone replaced their center resonators with Magnaflows here? The aforementioned Ford responded really well to the Magnaflows and VTs

Would love to hear any feedback on TC Performance and their tuning solutions!

Their website:

Thanks in advance!

ps: Aforementioned other Ford was a 1996 Ford Contour GL-Sport with 2.0 Zetec. I believe there were some common parts with the X-Type.

Any of those "chips" are a waste of money. They mislead the PCM and not only can it not provide more power you risk damage due to wrong fuel/air mix.

Similarly, tuning is a risk with almost no reward.

For more power buy a V8 NA or SC.

I truly appreciate the time and expertise shared by my fellow Jaguar enthusiasts on this forum. While I’ve noticed that "get a V8, NA or FI" is a common response to V6 modification questions, I sincerely value the advice and insights provided.

That said, I’ll still be moving forward with the CAI and exhaust upgrades. Additionally, I plan to reach out to Don Lasota to explore any available PCM re-maps.

Lastly, swapping to a V8 is simply not an option for me—I have a 5-speed manual 3.0L, and I’m not giving up my third pedal!

Thanks again for your guidance!

So long as you at most expect very modest changes (5 or 10HP) / maybe a slightly different power delivery curve you should be OK.

I think the 3.0 already gets 40HP more from the engine than various other cars so getting even more is gonna be tough.

Before you make any permanent exhaust changes remove the rear boxes (Mufflers to us USA guys) and see what the car sounds like. The big problem is 6 cylinders just don't sound good. You mention your modifications on a Ford but that was a 4 cylinder and they also don't sound good.

Other than a 90 degree V-8 it's just hard to get an exhaust that sounds good with no drone on the highway.
I don't want to spend your money but without some serious mods like a Turbo or Super charger you won't get much additional power.

Rare car with that 5 speed too!

Agreed—our S-Types’ 3.0 engines already produce more power. I was comparing it to the 2002 Lincoln LS, which was their last model year available with a manual transmission. [url]https://www.edmunds.com/lincoln/ls/2002/review/

As for a 5–10 HP increase, that aligns with the estimates I’ve received from a few friends, most of whom are Honda tuners. Thank you for confirming. This scenario is is heretofore relegated to more of a "nicer sound than outright power" exercise.

Spot on! I re-reviewed the clip on YT—the rear muffler delete sounded absolutely abysmal. That said, I started with a similar setup on my ‘96 Contour: a MagnaFlow high-flow center resonator with no rear box (from Trubendz.com). After a drone-filled month, I ended up adding a chambered muffler (a generic Flowmaster), which paired with a K&N CAI, sounded fantastic—though my neighbors didn’t quite agree.

Swapping the Flowmaster for a Dynomax VT turned out to be the perfect balance—aggressive at full throttle yet tame under normal driving. I’m thinking of trying the VTs on the rears before deciding on MagnaFlows for the center.

I truly appreciate the advice!
