Hi XJ owners,

I have been considering the purchase of a new XJ in the near future.

Was wondering if anyone new as to whether or not Jaguar plans to bring back the Vanden Plas model line.

I realize that Portfolio & SC are essentially the more premium models, but again just curious if the Vanden Plas badging will ever be brought back by Jag in the near future.

IMO, the term "Vanden Plas" conjures up 'old world' and 'stuffiness'... not exactly the direction Jaguar is trending towards. Imagine telling people you've got a 2012 XJ VDP and immediately they assume it's a car with panels of burled walnut, bespoke alloy wheels, and the J-gate!

I am getting tired of my 05 and plan to upgrade to a '13 XJ V6 SC (Amethyst Black) next year!

My understanding is that Tata could not acquire the rights to the Vanden Plas name with their purchase of Jaguar.

yeah ive been hearing the name, i dont think we'll ever see the VDP badge on the Jags.
