Default Power Close Boot not working

Hi all. Bit of an issue that has stumped me. My power close boot on my 2010 XJ Portfolio has stopped working and I can’t figure out why.
  • I’ve checked the 20A fuse and that’s fine
  • I’ve tried the whole hold the buttons for 10 seconds
  • I’ve tried removing the module the previous owner fitted to allow for remote closing
  • I’ve even replaced the electric strut

I really can’t think of what else to try. Any ideas?

I have tried removing it but still no luck. I’ve plugged it back in for now. Unfortunately I don’t have a decent reader capable of checking for any errors. Only a cheap Chinese OBD scanner. but it’s not like it’s a dying motor or anything the buttons do literally nothing at all

I had installed that close boot module on my XJ and it never interfered with the close boot button on the boot lid. In fact it worked very well and I was able to close the boot from the dash button, button in the boot lid, valence button and the key fob. I think your issue is elsewhere. Could it be with age that the wire in the harness that connects to the lid and body has a wire that has worn through?

Does the boot open using the in-cockpit switch and the button on the key fob? If yes, that would lead me to the trunk switch being defective.
