Default Question about locking and double locking

Hi all,

Quick question, how do you full lock and arm the interior and exterior of the car?

The book says double press of the button is to fully double lock, but I'm fairly sure the dealer said that was to disable the interior sensors

Can someone confirm please?

Thanks!

Yup it makes it more secure by changing the interior to not see the "key". Similarly if you leave the "key" inside you cannot lock the driver's door.

Security and locking setup is slightly different between UK and US market specifications.

Here is the UK double locking procedure:

Did the dealer perhaps say (or mean to say!) this disables the interior door handles?

Thanks for the replies

That is quite possibly what the dealer said then and we just didn't hear him properly

So best in the UK to double press the button then for double locking

"Yup it makes it more secure by changing the interior to not see the "key""

This above comment... Am I right in saying it is still impossible to lock the key in the car?

Thanks

Well, hard to do but not impossible. And locks can fail such that they lock themselves when the door is slammed. Look after your spare (they all come with at least one spare).

Some very determined members have managed to do this!

When Jaguar introduced Smartkeys, some market specs had the facility to open the luggage compartment of a locked and armed vehicle using the Smartkey button but without needing to disarm the security system. One of the "convenience" features.

Drop the keys inside, close it and there you are - locked out with the keys inside.

Later models prevent this happening by making it impossible to lock the vehicle with the key inside.

Best to just be careful then and keep the key in your pocket haha
