Default radiator cooling fan

My radiator fan never runs. The motor and relay fuses checked good. Where can I check to see if the relay and motor are getting power? Where are the relay and temperature sensors located? If I have to replace the fan motor assembly does the radiator have to be drained and hoses removed? Any and all help will be appreciated.

Is the car running hot?

Maybe it's not needed yet?

Stevencamp, try this, start your car (engine temp doesn't matter) and then dial your A/C to the lowest temp it will go and then set the fan for the maximum speed you can get. This should force the fans to run. From there, with the motor running, you should see/hear the fans running. They should be on max speed/air. So, you should be getting a good breeze of air coming from the engine bay.

Thanks for the feedback. It has only got hot once. That is when I found the fan not running. I only drive the car on the weekend and most of that is freeway speeds.

Doubt it's needed at those speeds.

You could read the coolant temp (ECT) using a cheap OBD tool with live data and see what it is.

Thanks again for the feedback. I found where the motor had two plugs at the bottom of the shroud. I had to replace the fan motor assembly. Ran car with A\C on high and fan came on. Thanks again. New member and not sure how to reply correctly.

Steven, you are doing fine. I guess the more telling question is whether it came on and blew or if it came on and was really pushing around some air. You should be able to really feel it pushing air through the engine bay. Just a gentle blowing will lead to overheating in stop and go traffic. At highway speeds, there is more air coming in through the grille because of the car moving down the road than the fans can cause themselves (by a scale of many times). So, yes, at highway speeds, all should be good based on what you are saying. If you start having temperature problems at speed, then that would point towards either a water pump issues or a thermostat issue most likely.
