Hey Clubair, have a question for you concerning my new injectors ( for both the left bank I've already replaced and the right bank yet to be done)... do they need to be programmed/calibrated for my XJ? I may have made a false assumption they would either already be programmed or would self adjust... just curious because my new scan tool ( Foxwell Tech N510 Elite) has a whole section on replacing and calibrating injectors...BTW I've ordered my parts (pump, wiring connector, headlamp bulbs) , they won't all arrive till sometime next week...
I also read one of your other posts on A/C compressor replacement, I have that also on my to-do list... one of my indie repair shops quoted $3K to do it, but since I can get a vacuum pump at O'Reilly's for a day, I'll tackle it myself ... and then I'll be done for a while I hope :-) although front struts are also on my list too
Not that anybody has posted?
Just remove and replace.
I think you know this since you have already replaced some injectors?
But they can be a bear to get out! The factory has a small slide hammer tool to hammer them out and people have reported it taking hundreds of blows. Others never did get them out and removed the heads so they could drive the injector out from the combustion chamber side. Several have broken the top off the injector by this hammering and then your stuck and the head needs to come off.
My biggest problem with the AC is the placement of the compressor with no room to work. Hopefully you can get the car up on a lift for that work?

Whew, that's a relief! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't leaving something out on the calibration part... yes, I actually bought the small slide hammer tool from Harbor Freight, pictures attached...it worked great for me, 3-5 slides on each injector and they came loose... I used the fork looking attachment in the lower right corner, it slips nicely onto the injector after you take off the rubber seal...hopefully the right side will cooperate equally as well :-)
That is great news! Congratulations because I was afraid you were in for a fight!
I might need to get that so again thanks for posting. I regularly use my slide hammer set but I only have the large one and this is nice more compact version.
Found it and only $30! WAY cheaper than the dedicated Jaguar slide hammer tool. Plus looking at both of them I think the HF one delivers a much harder hit? That might be the key because 3-5 hits is very low for removing these DI injectors. 2 LB Slide Hammer

Good morning....another update... in scanning with my new Foxwell Tech N510 Elite scanner with the Jaguar specific programming, I discovered I also had P0171/174 DTCs. I am familiar with these codes on my BMW Z4, its either a dirty MAF, cracked air intake tubing, etc on that car... so I began some more troubleshooting and found a dry/brittle/broken vacuum hose leading from the diaphragm to the intake manifold (see pictures below)...
Bad dry brittle broken hose, it was completely disconnected on manifold end
hose location, new hose in place
There's a similar hose leading from the diaphragm to the air intake manifold, I also replaced it while I was there. After replacing both of these hoses, I cleared the codes and drove for 30 minutes this morning. So far, no more check engine lights, no restricted performance messages, runs great ! Previously, the Restricted Performance message came on within 8-10 minutes every time. I even "let the horses run" a little bit if you know what I mean, and still no issue . Fingers crossed this may have been the culprit, although I have already ordered the new IC pump and wire connector... I'll probably just keep those for a rainy day upgrade or if it does truly fail before then, I have the parts to repair if needed... Can't believe I missed this, but its dark down in that area of the manifold where the hose attaches, and I just had not looked there specifically before...
