Rebuilding 2016 Jaguar XJ with no engine and transmission from Copart
Hey Folks,
New to here, just a bought a Jaguar 2016 XJ from copart with no engine and transmission. We would be installing it. Might need your help with some problems.
What do you think of it? Was it worth it?

Did you realise it is an all-aluminium car, and the panels are riveted and glued together. Normal crash repair techniques for steel shells are not valid with these, so if you are not familiar with the techniques used you really need to take advice or just part the car out. I can't see it being worth the money you are going to have to spend on it to get it roadworthy, as these saloons suffer from very heavy depreciation.
I may have missed it, in the video, but what did you pay for the car? In the summer of 2016, our 2012 XJ-L was declared a "total", after my wife was hit from behind, while she was stopped for a red light. The car, at the time, had 12,500 miles, and was in excellent condition, both visually, as well as mechanically, prior to getting hit. The car eventually wound up at a Copart site, where it was sold for $9500, and it then wound up at a NYC used car lot. Of course, it was being sold as a damaged car, but I was curious what ever happened to it....we really miss it.
