Said Good bye to my 2011 XJ yesterday!
The car was my wife’s favorite car. 145,000 miles on it, never used oil, never needed cam chain guides. Only issue was the water pump. Replaced 3 times, but the latest revision lasted years. Oh yeah, the front crossover coolant pipe, but I heard they have a new one piece version for the naturally aspirated V8s.
My wife purchased one of those $40.00 month unlimited drive through car washes. Ruined the paint within 3 months. Car looked great until then. She has since canceled the subscription.
The car mechanically was pretty sound, but the interior (white) and paint wasn’t worth the cost to repair and it was time for suspension bushings.
I ended up buying a new 2022 F-type that the dealership had for 442 days. They offered me a large discount and I bit. Hopefully it will run as long as our last Jag.
PS I always changed the oil every 7,500 miles and used Mobil 1 extended service oil with oem oil filters.
I appreciate all the help over the years this group has provided. Thanks

She'll have better headlamps, stereo and nav for sure! Please tell us how she feels about her new ride after she's gotten used to it. Some of us will undoubtedly be in the market for new or newish cars in the months ahead. Our choices in Jaguar sedans and coupes are few.
Great to hear 145K miles too! I am only around 56K but wonder how it will be with higher mileage?
Heck he is now uptown and special so he won't come back to us lowly XJ guys when he can frolic among the F-Types!!

Comparing the two, the XJ had a MUCH smoother ride and of course more versatile. The wheel noise is much louder in the F-Type. The XJ has styling like no other car. There is no confusing the XJ with other cars. A true timeless classic. The F-Type shares similar lines with some Aston Martins and Ferraris.
