Default Salvage Yard Score

Stopped by a local salvage yard on a whim. They just so happened to have an XJ. Ended up having the illumination package so I scooped up all 4 plus trunk trim. Also noticed the leather wrapped rear console trim. All for $280!!

I didn't get the dash pieces. One, I didn't have my vent removal too. Two, they refused to sell those separately from the entire dash 🙄 ... which they wanted $200 for. Not sure if I want the hassle.

Sorry for the dark and shitty pics. It was Night when I made it home.

Now for the downside.
I was so excited that I didn't check if it was a SWB 😄 so the rear sills don't fit my LWB. I'll be hoping to find someone to trade with. Not sure if I can sell just the 2 rears, but will try.

Also mosquitoes tore my *** up 😩

Nice find. I really want one of those leather rear consoles too.

Bummer about the short rear sills. The long ones do show up on ebay sometimes. I got lucky and found a new set of 4 sills a while back. Wiring is there for those too so easy swap.

You should be able to find the connectors for the rear vent lighting, but the fronts maybe not. On my 2011 XJL I have not found any evidence of pre-wiring available for the front vents. I am planning on adding that wiring and have sourced the right connectors to do it.

I never realized how much nice the wrapped ones were.

I already installed the front pair...super easy. I assumed the dash wiring would be there as well..now I'm curious 🤔. No big deal if they're not.

I already had a set of rear vent lights. So I will take these 2 out and swap the center part (with the light) onto the out vents on my dash. Super easy. The clock can work as a center one for now.

If you find the wires in the dash please take some pics so I know where to look. After the holidays I plan to get back to working on mine.

Not sure how "center" you are thinking but pretty sure the black orbs are not the same front vs. rear. You will need to get down to the light rings themselves.

If the light rings fit onto the unlighted orbs then please let us know. I did not think to compare to an unlighted one when I blackened my lighted ones. Definitely curious about that.

Lol I'll definitely post what I find.

By center, I mean the chrome plated part that you rotate to open/close the vent. I took a rear one apart down to light ring before. Visually, that part seem identical to the front ones. I also swapped the lighted to an unlighted rear one..because I messed up the clips on the original. I will post my findings on the dash vents.. but I can confirm 100% that the lighted rear rings fit on a non-lighted rear vent.

I finally scored an ebony leather rear console. Only took me 4 years.

Now I have to find the time to swap it in. This car hasn't had much attention the last couple years. Finally catching up so I can give it some love very soon...

Lol ... Congrats! You're a patient man. Sucks that you can't really find many XJs in salvage yards. At least not the self serve ones.
Any other goodies in the car you got it from? I need black sunroof shades and been looking for over a year lol

Car had the rear entertainment package. But gonna go aftermarket for the screens.

Still has the other illuminated vents and front sills. Might go grab those too and put on ebay.

Tray tables gonna get dyed black. Not the part I'm worried about. Have to find a way to retrofit them into my seats. Thinking about adding a steel brace and tapping screw holes. Haven't found anyone yet that done that mod, to get ideas.

If anything I can always resell them.

Those rear trays are super rare in these late model XJ's. I have only seen pictures. Was the junk XJ a SuperSport? I ask because I also have never seen the leather headliner option.

They definitely are... I had a set of the 2011 style as well. I don't think it was a SS ...it was loaded with the reclining rear seats and tv screens.

I seen the leather headliner in another yard nearby. I'd much rather the Alcantara.

My 2013 SuperSport was loaded with reclining rear seats with massage/heat/cool and TV screens. It has all leather including the headliner and A/B/C pillar trims.
