Shimmy problem
I have a 2016 XJL AWD V6 with 22,000 miles. I have been chasing a shimmy in the body at 65+ MPH. I have had the original tires balanced with no change. So I replaced all four tires with new Michelins, that also did not change it. Has anyone else had this issue and a fix?
carguy66, odds are, you have 1 of 2 issues. The more likely issue is you have a rim that is slightly bent (from hitting a pot hole or something of the like) and this shows up as you get up in speed. If all 4 of your tires are the same size, then I would try rotating the tires front to back and back to front to see if the shimmy changes. If it does, then one of your rear tires is bent and will need some attention.
If rotating the tires does not help and/or you cannot rotate the tires, then I would get an alignment done on the car. These cars are sensitive to a proper alignment and if both front tires are not pointing exactly straight ahead, this will cause a wobble to occur at higher speeds.
