Default Sound works for 90 minutes then nothing

Hello All, looking for any advice on my 2011 XJ Portfolio.

Everything works fine on the stereo for 90 minutes, then it packs up !

No sound, can't change the audio source, not even a beep from the button presses.

Climate control still works and seat massage / heat / cool options.

Navigation does not respond and reversing camera does not work either.

To fix it I turn off the car, wait for the displays to turn off, lock and unlock the car and turn it back on again - will then last for between 25 mins and 90 mins.

Any suggestions on what to check or other experiences would be great.

i think it might be something overheating- any suggestions where to start?

Thanks in advance !!

Jonathan

Because you have intermittent electrical problems with multiple systems, I suspect the cause is a dying battery. How many years old is your current battery? How many miles on your XJ? What type of daily driving - short city commuting? I suggest that you have your battery and alternator tested and if you need a new battery, make sure to buy an AGM type.

Thanks Stuart, I have checked the battery at the local garage and they advised that the test shows the battery health is exceptional. I've only had the car a couple of weeks, but it's an 11 plate with 50k on the clock.

If you still have the original battery after 6 years, I'd be leery of it really being in exceptional health as reported by your local garage. Did they offer any suggestions for the cause of your problems? You might want to get a second opinion from an independent garage that specializes in late model Jaguars.

Thanks Stuart - battery checked again by Jag specialist and does not seem to be the issue.
The CD/DVD player also never accepts discs, looking for a replacement I notice a few adds describe the unit as CD/DVD/Bluetooth/Sat Nav unit rather than a straight forward head unit - can anyone expand - does this do all this ? Part Number is BVJG101A or cf6n-1-8c815-he.

Thanks

Jonathan

Update - if anyone can help. Battery checked again - all good - alternator checked - all good, I have replaced the CD head unit as it was not accepting discs but the sound, bluetooth and navigation is still cutting out after 90 mins. Can only be reset by turning off and locking car for a minute - then all good for another 90 mins.

Any ideas for this member? I'm experiencing the same problem, but none of the those systems (navigation, back up camera, stereo, voice command, etc.) work at all for me...
