Default Stiff Center Console Button Fix?

All:

My apologies if this has been asked, I didn't find any other posts regarding it. My center console button is extremely stiff. Is there any easy fix for this? Anyone else experience an issue with it?

If you are referring to the release button that opens the storage compartment in the center, then the answer is no, there is no "fix" for it - it is that way by design.

When the 2011s first came out, the button was much easier to open. However, shortly thereafter, Jaguar issued a "fix" which replaced the button and latch mechanism which made it much harder to open. I suspect that too many people were accidentally opening the compartment. They applied the fix on my car without asking during my first service visit and I really liked it the way it was.

Default Really?

Wow really? Then they must have replaced something incorrectly. I practically have to use two hands to push that damn button down. Are you telling me that's by design? I can't image it should be that stiff. I can understand it being stiff, but I push down with both thumbs, then it takes 3 minutes for the button to slowly rise back up. Or is this what everyone is facing? Is yours that bad?

No. mine is not that bad. The original latch just required a light touch to open - similar to the coin compartment next to the latch. Now, you have to push the latch all the way to the bottom to disengage the latch that opens the compartment, but it isn't stiff like you described.

Sounds like a visit to the dealership is in order for you.

Thank makes more sense. I couldn't imagine they would make that thing so freakin' hard. Thanks for clarifying, looks like a visit is in order. Might just wait until my next service.

Best of luck... dealer was able to fix mine by replacing the latch but in the process scratched my leather arms rest..kind wished I had lived with the console as no I am fighting with them to replace.
