Stop/Start Has Stopped Working.
Hello XJss and others. We have gotten word through Ebay that an Exide 151 start-stop auxiliary battery has been shipped and should arrive here in Illinois
between November 21 and November 29. It is from autospares.eu(8.050) and the cost including shipping was 158.48 EUR. ( $174.73)
Our snow tire installer also does batteries and they said they would hook it up, once it arrives. Will see if anything else is wrong then. In the meantime
our XJL is still in the metal shop, getting headlights and other parts repaired after I hit a big raccoon.

It can take a week to 10 days for the system to relearn that the battery has been replaced. Also, can you give us the Ebay link you used to order the battery?

Hello Cambo,
We finally got the EK151 auxiliary battery put in today. The EK151 came from Europe at "autospares.eu" It cost Eur 110.00 plus shipping for Eur 158.48 ( U.S. $174.10 ).
Didn't attempt to put it in myself so paid $28.63 (Eur 25.98) to have it done . So far then I am well ahead of the dealer estimate of over $500. The orange eco symbol goes on and off when
you push it, but as of this evening and only 25 miles of driving with it, Stop/Start is not yet working. Will it start to work in a while, or is there likely something else that
needs attention. Thanks for all of your help so far! Jim and Gwynne

The primary battery must be fully charged for the stop-start system to function properly. If you don't drive enough to fully charge your battery, you should consider buying a battery maintainer like the CTEK that I use. For details, see:

Thank you for the battery maintainer suggestion! I didn't know there were such things. Right now I am driving 1,250 miles a month
with a slowdown coming this winter. Hopefully XJsss suggestion that 7-10 days of regular driving will be enough for the XJL to
relearn to use Stop/Start. As bitter as our worst days can be here in northwestern Illinois, a battery maintainer might be
an excellent idea no matter what. Thank you. Jim and Gwynne.

Hi question does the yellow eco light go away if you disconnect the second battery cable? my battery is dead and i do not want the auto stop option. should i disconnect the neg. cable? thanks for the info
Unfortunately, the yellow, "eco mode off" light does stay on....
I don't know but on my 2014 XJR unhooking the little battery does NOT turn on the light and makes absolutely no difference if it's hooked up or not.
Maybe different years have different reactions?

1. I don't care about the start/stop as much as I care about the Light on the dashboard, and disconnecting the Neg (or Pos, or both) doesn't kill that light. Is there a way to defeat the dashboard light?
2. Secondly, since there are many TX14 motorcycle batteries for sale near us, and since the connecting is the difference (square bolt-in instead of auto posts) why not just buy a motorcycle battery ($40 +/-) and screw the post clamp to the square? It will give us the same 14Ah and is the same size, but will that give us dashboard light defeat?
Hello from a new member whose car has the same issue, except that I have two comments:
1. I don't care about the start/stop as much as I care about the Light on the dashboard, and disconnecting the Neg (or Pos, or both) doesn't kill that light. Is there a way to defeat the dashboard light?

I found this. It would be worth a try
For $50, it's a decent gamble, especially if it kills that pesky light. Let's post the best prices for them, since yesterday I found one for $37 delivered, but can't find it again (yet).
