Default Time for tires

My XJL SC has about 26k on it and tires are down to 3/32. Dealer wants to put the Continental ContiSportContact 3s on and of course over charge me. Had the Dunlops as OEM.

Been looking at Tire Rack and wondered what people have concluded is the best replacement tire.

Thanks.

Were you happy with the Dunlop's? 26000 miles isn't bad if you were happy with them.
Mine started wearing on insides at 9000 miles and got noisy. I replaced them at 14000 miles with Continental Extreme Contact DWS all seasons and so far, with about 2000 miles on them, I am happy with them.
I got them at my dealer but paid the same price as Tire Rack. The dealer said they would match the best price I could find and although they balked a little when I took them up on it they came through.

The Dunlop's were a bit noisy. This is a new dealer for me (Austin) since I just moved here. No price matching offers.

I was looking at the DW or DWS though weather here is fairly good. The best rated tires at TireRack seemed to be the Bridgestones but I know nothing about those tires.

I was even looking at the Run Flats since these tires seem easy to pop.

I have the Bridgestone S04 Pole Positions and I like them alot. Quieter than the Dunlops I had before and good traction. I only got 14k on the Dunlops before I replaced them a couple months ago.

I've had the Continental DWS on my last Mercedes and while a pretty good overall tire for an all-season tire, they were fairly loud after a couple thousand miles on them. Plus, obviously not as sticky as a set of summer tires.

Well I think I have narrowed it down to the Continental DW (not the S) or the Bridgestones.

I don't think I will be unhappy with either and they are sure less money then the OE tires.

Hey mate, may I ask why do you prefer the Continental DW over the DWS? What is the difference?
So far I have heard only good things about the DWS from everyone on the forums and was thinking of buying those for my own XJL, but now your post has me questioning that choice! :-)

I am a complete Michelin zealot. I have put some form of Pilot's on nearly every car I have owned. When I need tires, I fully expect to put Michelin Pilots on.

Best,
dsd

I agree and would have preferred to go with a set of Pilot Super Sports but they aren't available in the stock 20" size for our car which is why I went with the Bridgestones.

Do you still have your Jaguar and the Michelin Pilots on it? If so, would you recommend this tire? I have the '12 XJL-Portfolio with 19" wheels. Anything else you can share about this tire is appreciated.
Thanks.

I'll be putting Michlin Primacy tires on my 245 45 front 275 40 rear 19" when these Pirelli Neros wear out.
Costco sells them. Good prices, nitrogen fills, balance and rotations for life.
And I've had great experience with Michelin.
The Primacy is a run flat tire.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are the best all around tire I've had on any of my cars. They're unbelievable in the rain, hook up extremely well from a dig, their quiet and considering their performance they have a respectable life span.
