Which timepiece do you wear in the Jag...
I wonder if there are any data out there about the watch brand that is most commonly owned by different brands of cars. Obviously with large numbers, there will be quite a distribution, but... What causes my musing is that I truly believe that a lot of people buy BMWs for example without really knowing much or anything about the car - "it's a BMW" is the rationale. Similarly, I think there are "safe" luxury watch brands - high quality watches for those who don't really know anything about timepieces. I think Jaguar owners tend to be those who are more comfortable with a less "conventional" choice. I'm not going to name top tier watch brands that I think are those conventional choices (flame war would ensue), but you probably know at least someof them...
i love the tritium tubes! Ever hear the phrase, "on the ball"? That was an old railroad reference to the ball pocket watches, which were the only allowed watches on the railroad for many years. On the ball, means on time.
Although they may have different mfg plants, the overseeing and specs are all swatch group since 1999, i think. The must have breguets ceased circa 1976. Its kinda like (tata)range rover/jag or previously ford/jag. If im not mistaken the jag still uses a ford mfg motor. As for watches, longines watches by swatch are different from the longines of old.

I wear the watch my beautiful and loving wife gave me, featuring the Chevrolet Corvette crossed-flags insignia on the dial face, which sounds corny, but was executed very tastefully. I wear it proudly because she means so much to me. I give my more expensive watches to my grandsons once they are old enough to appreciate them.
Usually my Tag Carrera but I just got a Bulova Precisionist in Red Gold/ Copper with the leather strap which is finding itself on my wrist quite a lot lately . If I'm taking the car to work my old Tag Link is my default work watch as it has proven to be pretty much bullet proof.
Omega Speedmaster Pro is my daily wear - http://www.omegawatches.com/fileadmi...5705000-60.jpg

I actually thought that Omega was owned by Rolex as a lesser priced range I stand corrected if anyone knows different
HTC One. Also functions as a phone, web browser, and media player. A little too large to wear on the wrist, however.
But seriously...people still wear watches? Only time I wear my Timex is when I'm going to be in a building that doesn't allow phones.

My "everyday" watch is a Rolex Daytona Stainless Steel and the "dress" watch is a Rolex Day-Date solid gold. I've had many watches through the years but the only ones that hold up to my punishment are Rolex. BTW Rolex makes all their watches and have a second line called Tudor.
Rolex is an independent, family owned, business, while Omega is part of the Swatch Group Conglomerate.
Omega has never made any watches or movements for Rolex.
Rolex does own a sub-brand Tudor.

Since I don't actually get my XJ until this Friday, I can't say I wear any while driving it... lol
But the watches in my rotation are as follows;
- Panerai PAM000
- Breitling Super Avenger (black dial with baton indicies)
- Omega Planet Ocean (orange)
- Bell & Ross BR03-92
- Seiko Sportura Kinetic Chronograph
- Tissot Savonnette mechanical pocket watch
- High end custom built 1:1 Marina Militare Ref. 6152/1 with genuine vintage Rolex Cal. 618 movement.
I'm a bit of a watch guy...

LOL, that misses the point of watches altogether. That's like saying I stopped wearing shoes at work when we got carpeting. High quality watches are their own end.
I equate them to food. Some folks would never spend big money on a meal when they can go to subway everyday. Other's would toss the sub in the trash and pay for a nice steak. Just a matter of taste and priorities. I would still wear a watch(cheap or expensive) even if I had contacts showing the time everywhere I looked. I just feel naked without one and have since I was a kid in high school.
Also works with cars BTW, we could get around on a bus or a Honda civic but we choose precision made Jaguars as our transportation. ;-)
Cheers!
