Which timepiece do you wear in the Jag...

Don't you take it off when you go to sleep?
Aside from getting your Rolex repaired or serviced, there are a few DIY tricks you can try to regulate your watch. Gravity has a big impact on a watch’s precision. If your watch is speeding up, lay the watch on its edge vertically with the winding button facing down. If your watch is slowing down, lay it flat (horizontally) with the dial pointing up. The way the watch is positioned will allow gravity to adjust the friction on the balance staff. These simple tricks will not precisely regulate your Rolex, but they may help you tweak it enough to serve you until you can get it properly serviced.
All mechanical watches are regulated by a hairspring, which can be affected by many factors including, but not limited to, temperature, the amount of activity, age, and the time it was last serviced. No mechanical watch will keep perfect time, but Rolex does better than most others.
I bought mine in 1969 from an authorized Rolex dealer when I was on R&R in Hong Kong and gold was $41/ounce. I keep it in my safe deposit box and haven't worn it for decades because it is too flashy and looks like a cheap Chinese copy. It's been a good investment.

Stuart,
No sir, I do not take my watch off to sleep; never have. When I mastered telling time at age six, my parents bought me a new Timex and there has been a watch on my left wrist ever since! My Rolex replaced a ten-year-old Seiko and, unless looked at closely, bears a striking resemblance to the Seiko. Because it has the stainless steel and gold case and band, it doesn't immediately stand out as being a high-dollar watch. In all the years I've had it, only two people have ever commented on it. One of those was the salesman who sold me my XJL and the other was the private party from whom I acquired my Rolls-Royce Silver Spur. He was wearing a Rolex President (all gold) which I thought looked rather gaudy. I guess it's a matter of taste, but I thought his looked like an inexpensive fake.
Steve,
My watch DOES serve a functional purpose; it tells me the time of day! I try to live my life as disconnected as possible so, to that end, I do not carry, own, or desire a smart phone. 90% of the time, I don't even carry the ancient cell phone I do have. It's just not that important to me. I can connect via computer with anyone I care to converse with from home or the office and that is just fine with me. I guess you'd call me "old school". I'm only a few months away from my 60th birthday, but I think my soul is 20-30 years older than that! lol

That's an interesting story, and reminded me of my daughter's two dogs. She named the first one Timex and the second one Rolex. They're watchdogs!

I originally had a non-expensive stainless steel Casio that was radio controlled using the British time signal, once transmitted from Rugby, but now somewhere up in Cumbria. I still have this, but when I retired, I had some money to spend, so whacked-out on a much more upmarket Citizen Eco-Drive in titanium. This is also radio-controlled, but uses the German time signal from Frankfurt. The interesting bit is that both watches show exactly the same time, except for the second hands, which are about 1/2 second apart. I have always assumed this is because of the distance Frankfurt is away from my house. The downside of the Citizen is that being titanium, it marks the sink when I wash my hands without taking the watch off and knock the sink with it !
It is fascinating to look at the clocks on the railway stations and see them exactly the same as one's watch. These were converted a few years ago to be radio-controlled.
Only a few years after I bought the Citizen, they brought out a new watch which used the GPS signal, and which automatically changed the time according to where you were in the world. With the Citizen and also the Casio, one has to press a few buttons to change time zones.
The wonders of technology !!

I do not own an X 351, but I do own and love a 2007 XK Convertible.
Usually I carry the same watch I´ve carried for nearly any day since 2004: a GMT II. Originally Pepsi, now Coke.
not actually mine; pic from net
But I think my Tudor Oyster Price Date "TIGER"
mine has black bezel
or my Omega Seamaster 300M 2006 "Casino Royale", No 327 of 10007,
would fit nicely.
Since I changed my 16613 Sub from "Bluesy" to "Gray slate Serti dial" I carry her hardly anymore - but it´s one of the latest manufactured 5 Digit Sub´s sporting a Serti dial. Perhaps the only one with "RolexRolex..." on the rehaut.
pic from net
Next aim would be a "Wimbledon" Datejust 41.
Have fun, stay safe, Hermann
