while watching a movie tonight in the jag i pressed the settings tab and came across VOD tab. pressed this tab and screen listed a validation code and this website for more info www.divx.com/vod . does anyone know what this is about?

 

Divx is both the name of a company and the video format that they created. It provides DRM (digital rights management) to encoded video files to ensure that only the owner of the video is allowed to play the file. Not a very popular format, but similar to some other services, you can purchase movies, burn them onto a DVD/CD and play them on a player that supports the Divx format. Before playing though, you must register the serial # of your player to activate it and enable playing of the encrypted file. This is just a one-time activation, similar to what Netflix does.
