Default What to buy in this catagory ?

My 02 XJ8 and 09 XJ8 l VDP are history and I'm looking for a great ride in a sedan, preferably with long wheel base and comfortable front seats.
Is each year better than the one before ?? Or is there one year in this group that stands out ?? Although I'm not looking to die, at 78, this would
probably be my last sedan. Keeping my 2011 XKR convertible for summer time and sunny weather...
Thanks,
Ken

Ken,

The earliest X351 model year that I recommended is 2013, which is when the 8-speed transmission and Meridian Surround Sound System were introduced, as well as Stop-Start. Later model years brought more upgrades, such a soft close doors, improved infotainment, headlights, and interior patterns. That's par for the course.

My 2013 XJ SWB 5.0LSC is just the right size for my needs, as the back seat is not cramped if you're 6' tall or less. My seats are very comfortable as are the ride and handling even with 20" wheels. Do you need AWD In WV?

I can't decide which one I like best. I'm Old School and like mine with leather and wood.

Ken, I too moved up from my old '01 XJ8 after loving it. At the time, I looked hard for a 2014 cherry XJ with 5 liter in specific color & interior. Couldn't find it after a year and settled for a very cherry 3 liter in the colors I wanted. I've been surprisingly pleased with the 3 liter performance and interior comfort over the past 3 years. the 3 liter is no slouch with the 8 speed trans. The first thing you will notice is the ride is not as soft as your old XJ8. However, the ride is far better than a Mercedes or BMW. If you're used to the ride of your old car, don't go above the 19" wheels. The ride is harder the bigger the wheel on these models in my opinion. Also, get used to watching where the curb is, It's easy to scrape a wheel and you'll miss those nice XJ8 high sidewall tires. Before 2016, the XJ's don't have the cool daytime running lights. I'm about your age and you'll have to train yourself on using many more very cool features, most of which you didn't really need. Some features are annoying like the automatic start/stop that still drives me nuts and one day I will permanently disable it. Be wary about the water pump issue and deal with it. Other than that, the X351 is prestigious and I like it.
