any difference besides one having more back seat room?

It depends I have noticed that some XJ8L's have CD changers and up level audio which the base XJ8 does not, but to be honest I think the only way to know for sure is to research both models from the same model year.

 

blackbird.....i have of both these...same year....and even same color(don't ask why its a long story).....my understanding is that 1999-2002 are exactly the same cars(mechanically)....if i am wrong on this i am sure someone will correct me.

of course there is the wheel base difference.....and much more room in the back on the long....where there are differences it has mainly to do with what options were made available.....for example...on my 2000 base.....the original owner got heated seats front and rear.my long does not have heated seats....but everything is pre-wired on my long so if i wanted to i could change out and have heated seats.......van den plas...model....comes with back seat trays.....etc.

obviously, different people will have different opinions on ......which looks/rides best......for me hands down its the long.....the long also looks lower to the ground than the xj8 base......when placed side by side.....i don't know if this is actually the case or just an illusion......
