I've always been pleased with Michelins on my previous XJ8 and now on my 2014 XJ. Pirelli OEM tires disappointed me with the harsh ride. I'm very satisfied with Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ 245/45ZR 19 98y front and 275/40ZR 19 101y rear. I run them at the specified 32lbs all around.

So you'd say the Michelins are better riding than the Pirellis?

Yes, no question in my mind. Michelins Pilot Sport AS3+ are far more comfortable and softer riding than the original equipment Pirelli tires. I like a comfortable ride in a big sedan.

Good to know. I used to have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my Audi A6, and I thought they were awesome - they transformed the car.

I had a set of Pilot Sport AS3+ but they only lasted 22,000 miles. They were great tires but I thought I should have gotten better wear out of them. Replaced them with Bridgestone RE980s. So far I like the Bridgestones a lot but I have to admit that the Michelins ride a little better. They both handle very well in the dry and the wet. My car is also AWD but it shouldn't make much much, if any difference.
