Waiting for the 2017 models to arrive. Hoping to pick up a good deal on a 2016 left over a couple of months after that........

I wonder if the current XJ owners are feeling antsy or envious as Jaguar introduces new F-Pace, F-Type, even a J-Pace teaser, but says nothing about the XJ. I know some are ready to 'trade up'.

Actually, the current XJ owners should be very happy. The new crop from Jaguar (F-P, XE, XF) are rubbish and cheap inside, certainly compared to the 3 XFs I've owned so far. I hope they leave at least the XJ alone, otherwise ppl like me will go elsewhere.

Agreed, the new Jags are tech and performance oriented, not luxurious. The XJ interior is the last old frontier.

You are correct! We love our 2013 XJ and I would say it's about the nicest vehicle we've ever owned. Performance, luxury and comfort all in one. But, it could have used a bit more in the "technology" department. It seemed to me that when Ford departed the scene they took all of the "techies" with them. A comparison of technology features between the XJ to my wife's 2011 Lincoln MKX, finds the Lincoln way, way ahead of anything in the Jag. I'm not complaining but Jag needs to take a look out there and see what's available. Obviously, I don't know what the newer XJ models offer, but I hope it's better equipped in that department.

I am old school enough that technology just isn't my bag; I don't own a smartphone and don't want one. Can't even remember to take my old cell phone with me when I leave the house. The XJ interior was one of the major selling points when we bought ours. We were coming out of a Rolls-Royce and, other than buying another one, Jaguar was the only thing that even came close! I'll take suede, leather, and wood over electronics any day!

New Mercedes S class, new BMW 7, new Porsche Panamera, XJ should come out by 2017 not late 2018. Here in Italy JLR dealers are focusing too much in Land Rover model, I have the impression Jaguar is not considered anymore very important. they sell a lot of Range rovers sport, all around in the streets a lot of range rovers

I'm with you on that! But I would at least like to have "remote start" to warm the car up in Winter and cool it in the Summer. After that, not much.
Luck

Remote Start is now included on the 2016 XJs if I am not mistaken.

Just think, you can also check to be sure none of your enemies wired a bomb to the ignition.

You mean like Gary Triano's 1996 car bomb murder by his ex outside an AZ country club, body parts flying all over. That was bad...

I'm with you 100% on that! I find it rather embarrassing that I can start my Ram pickup and my Mustang convertible remotely, but not a nearly $100,000 Jaguar! Oh well!

I am already seeing some 2016 Jaguars XJ's at discounted prices and am looking into trading myself. I have found a couple in the color and equipped the way I like and am trying to work a deal.
I have seen some pictures that show a slight exterior change to the 2017 XJ but nothing in writing indicating when and if this change will actually take place. The 2016 would give me the updated features that I desire so I really do not know if a change in style would make me hold out for a 2017 but it would be nice to know if such a change will take place.
I will check with the dealer to see if they have any new information on the 2017 Jaguar XJ.

I'm another graduate of the Old School. There's nothing better than leather and, of course, good wood!

Reviving an older thread. We got our 2016 XJ-L a week ago. While the touch screen on our previous 2012 was initially a little confusing, it was basic enough that we easily got familiar with it, and could leave it in either "climate" our "audio" mode, and EASILY make adjustments as wanted. The one in our new car is WAY overcomplicated. This is an AUTOMOBILE, not an DIGITAL INSTRUMENT TEST FACILITY!

And the real "kicker" is the warning message that appears, when you first fire up the car, saying how dangerous/distracting that playing with the display, while driving, can be. "No defecation, Sherlock"!! It doesn't need to be that complicated...........

I think the XJ would be perfect with the new InControl Pro 10" touchscreen that's in the F-Pace and XE. From what I hear it's lightening fast and you can show GPS maps in the center gauges like the new Audis. Even better if it can do Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (It can't.)

when it comes to cars, i like changing up every few years. doesnt necessarily have to be new, but at least a different car so that i dont feel like im stuck with the SAME car again for another 2-3 years (i lease)

as a LONG time XJ owner (every model since 2003), i've had this issue a number of times. the switch from X308 to X350 was good. i ended up switching into another X350 which is technically a no-no in my book, but it was from an XJL to a Vanden Plas, different color, more options...so i let it slide (each car was a 2 year lease). When the Vanden lease ended, they only had X358's for 3 year leases...so i opted for an XF just to change it up.

i came back to XJ's for the X351 and absolutely LOVED IT!! I loved it so much i broke my rule again and got another X351...but the 3L AWD car and not the 5L...and i feel like it lost a little bit of its soul...so i ended up giving my dad the car and getting the XFR. I'm patiently waiting for the next model XJ, but will switch back to the X351's as soon as i find a SuperSport available. that's my holy grail

carzaddict my sentiments exactly. I point of interest the SuperSport is still in production in some other markets as the Autobiography model. go to Jaguar.com and build your XJ in Jamaica or the UK. If I could get them to build one and send it here I'd do it in a heartbeat.

carzaddict, I'm with you on this one too. But I also think the loss of the wood tray tables in the rear is also a most unfortunate interior design decision and was an additional piece of the XJ's soul taken from it. It's simply less special being in the back seat in the new cars now. And tech isn't a substitute for exquisite wood and leather.
