I can’t remember where I saw it.. but someone took out the black ring and then made the hole threaded. He used some sort of brass elbow and tightened it into the hole Seemed to be a lot earlier dealing with that. Maybe I’ll give that a shot next time I pull my water pump.

That’s exactly what I was considering this afternoon. Thread-Tap the brass and insert a brass nipple to insert into the hose. Somewhere great minds are thinking alike.
I dismissed it later in the day and found one on eBay delivered for less then $25.

the idea is simple enough. I just wasn’t comfortable trying it since I’ve never done that before. But I do now have an extra water pump sitting around so I could at least do a practice run there if I get around to doing this in the future.
