Default XJ (2016) x351 rear climate panel

Hi guys, first time poster here. Hoping somebody can help me with this one as I’ve heard conflicting info from Jaguar dealership etc.

In the rear of my XJ, I have a climate panel that should control rear heated / cooled seats, heating etc. the panel has never worked since I owned the car. I can control the seats in the rear and the climate zones from the front main console, but the one in the rear doesn’t light up or come on at all. I’m guessing the panel is faulty and likely needs replacing.
the cigarette sockets work and illuminate, but the screen doesn’t and none of the buttons or knobs work.

my question is; if I buy a replacement panel on eBay, is it a matter of plug and play or will it need some sort of “coding” or syncing to make it work with the climate system?
jaguar told me that it would (obviously) and that only they could do this…
a refurbished or pre-owned panel on eBay is under £200 but Jaguar want £1,500 to supply and fit a new one. I’m really not wanting to spend that, but happy to purchase one on eBay if it will work / be straight forward!

Can anybody shed any light on this for me or has anyone swapped them out before? Would be doing me a huge favour if somebody could help, rather than me potentially wasting £200 and an afternoon swapping them over, just to find out that it won’t work as I’m hoping.

Thanks in advance!

James

THere is a button on your front climate control screen to disable rear controls, have you checked to see if that has been engaged maybe, just a thought ?
Just noticed you have a 2016, it may be different to my 2015 display.

Hi, yes, this was one of the first things I tried. There’s also a child lock button on the driver door that disables rear doors, windows and rear climate panel. I’ve tried toggling that on and off; no luck
Thank you though, that would have been amazing if it was that simple.

ok, on the rare occasion sometimes it can be the most obvious thing that we can miss, hopefully someone else may be able to advise you further on this

It's plug and play. You need to pull the outer housing off first with a small plastic trim tool, or your fingers. Then the control unit comes off as one piece. I had the same condition on my 2012, then I had heated/cooled control once again. A used model was $50 on eBay.

Since it's totally dead maybe remove it before buying another one just to make sure it's plugged in?
