Default XJ Service reset

I have always understood that there was no process for resetting the "service required" warning unless you used a scanning tool. Any thoughts on the attached video or anyone attempt this procedure?

Cheers

On the XF, F-Pace, XE, E-Pace it's only 10 seconds not 20 seconds. Same procedure.

Please try this and report back? It would be great if this did work but it does not.
No pushing on pedals will NOT reset the service light!!
How many times do we need to go thru this??

On the late model XJ X351 the ONLY way to reset the service light is with an external device.
We have had Brutal our resident Jaguar dealer tech post this multiple times.
Think about it? If that video was true how come Jaguar does not publish and use this method?? Because IT DOES NOT WORK!!

Stop watching idiots posting garbage on YouTube. They are trying to start a business and want all the views possible. Turn it off. The answers are all on this forum.

Calm down my friend...didn't mean to get you so upset over there. Perhaps go have a beer and relax for a bit. The video was posted online so I was just passing it along and asking for feedback. Didn't mean to offend you or anything SMH.

Not offended and not excited at all.
When bogus crap is posted it's best to stop it IMMEDIATELY!!

The internet has no fact checking and any idiot can post whatever they want. That's great IF you use your brain and separate the wheat from the chaff!
Again lose the video junk and use this forum. All the answers are on here.

Not to stir the pot on what's already been posted, but could you recommend a scanning tool? There are so many options on the market.

I read somewhere that this method only works in the US market due to some laws allowing Americans to be able to do that without a tool. Could be a complete BS. I also read somewhere that this method only resets the oil service and not full service.

I'm using DA-Dongle with SDD and a laptop to do a full service reset to 16k miles.

I use the iCarsoft loaded with specific JLF software. Works well for me. The scanner can be upgraded with other OEM specfic software (for a fee), ao one scanner will cover multiple car makers.

Thanks for the lecture on "how to surf the internet" but I'm good. I'm sure most other folks on here can figure it out on their own as well. Maybe tone down your replies a bit might be helpful. You go and have a good day now.

I have the Foxwell NT510 Elite. I have used it to reset the service interval at oil changes. It does seem to have a lot of other features as well for the XJ but I'm certainly not pretending to be an expert on the tool. It does receive regular software updates from Foxwell so the company seems to be actively maintaining the device.

zYx,

Yes, the iCarsoft will work on any JLR product. Ensure you specify JLR when you order it. You can always add other manufactureers at a later date.

I use an Autel MS906BT. Get the TPMS version if you anticipate wanting to check TPMS life or otherwise at least once, it pays back in one use.
It has limited bidirectional stuff, but most importantly live reading, reset service, and can calibrate the air suspension. It's more expensive, but it's fast and supported by Autel USA if you buy it from an authorized reseller/distributor.

Oh you go and have a good day too! Maybe stop spreading junk info?

Yes if you want to reset the service light there are a number of factory and aftermarket scanners that will do it.
I use SDD but that is a pain. The cheapest I have found is an Autel HT200. Very surprised a $50 item could do it too!
Reset Service Light on XJ

I don't see it for sale anymore so must have been updated? Yes it's now the Autel AP200 and the price has risen to about $70 which I think is still the cheapest scanner that can do the reset.

Back to your OP, the original subject - did you get it to work, or was clubairth1 right?
The pissing contest mano-mas-macho is entertaining, although out of character for the stereotype Canadien, but you've been leaving us on the edge?

And I do sincerely apologize myself for any reference at all to stereotypes (I'm not a stereotypically idiotic liberal, honest), but I think I can say in general (stereotypically?) that Americans generally hold our Canadian neighbors (eh?) in high esteem and with positive regard. I know I always have other than the excessive (opinion, of course since it's a subjective measure) liberal leanings.
.

P.S. - I hear the Chinese air force has been pushing the Canadian A.F. deployed out of Kadena around a little bit...
What's true-dough$$ going to do about that?
I heard he works for the same person that our own jokin'joe & kamel-toe harris are. They get paid pretty well...

LOL. I can assure you I am not a fan of Trudope or any of his liberal leaning ideologies. I'm sure he will respond to China with some virtue signalling nonsense, send along our second jet and be surprised when they tell him to go jump in Lake Ontario. I follow U.S. politics a bit (I work for a U.S. company and report to folks in New York and Florida) so have been hearing lots of opinions on what's going on in both countries. Sad days IMHO.

Regarding this wonderful thread (actually I think it's my first...and if Club has anything to do with it probably my last) lol....well I wasn't suggesting that this works, I was surprised by the video and the fact it specifically mentions the XJ so thought it might start an interesting conversation. At no point did I suggest it was accurate but my good friend Club obviously figured this conversation must be stopped "IMMEDIATELY" (I mean you can't make this stuff up).

I already have a scanning tool that I use to reset but unfortunately I cannot test this as I don't have the service light on. I'm guessing it won't work either but thought it was an interesting video and someone could try it if they are in reset mode (just don't tell our friend)..

Appreciate your good humour. FWIW I was quite taken back by the initial response and at first was going to just let it go (you know like that good stereotypical Canadian I'm supposed to be lol).

Some day I'll take Club out for a beer and all will be well in the world. Until then I will continue in "New Thread" exile so we don't create any new problems.

Cheers

Kevin

when I looked that model up Foxwell NT510 it indicates it for BMW. Did you find that to be true although it works for the JAG. Thanks
