Nope, he was actually correct. The Foxwell NT510, much like the iCarsoft, can be ordered with specfic software for most manfactureers be it BMW, JLR or Ford etc. You can then order additional software to cover a second, third etc vehicle in your fleet ...or any subsequent vehicle you may wish to purchase.

I just had my local generic indie change my oil and filter on my US version 2016 xj. It came back showing 0 miles left on oil life. I know procedures like the one shown in the video make no sense, but my xj oil service mileage is now reset after following it.

Since I don't have access to internal workings at Jaguar, I don't know if this is a grudging reaction to the "right to repair" legislation passed here in the US (and still under battle from manufacturers).

It's not the first wacky procedure I have encountered to reset messages in various cars and it feels like you have to belong to some secret society to find them all if you don't own an OBD tool for each one. All I can say is it worked for me.

I not concerned about resetting service reminder. It goes away after a few seconds and when I change by oil I always write down the date ,mileage etc in my maintenance log. I have always pretty much chaged my own oil and oil change on the xjl is very easy. Dont even have to crawl under car.
Just my opinion.

I don't know what everyone's on about over this. I just changed the oil in my 2017 XJL and the procedure on the YouTube video worked like a charm. In fact, changing the oil itself was almost easier than resetting the service interval indicator! Just because this procedure doesn't work for you doesn't mean it won't work for anyone else. I would certainly give it a try first before going out and buying an expensive scan tool you might not need.

What we're on about is that it works on US models but not on European models.

The service reminder does not bother me. It disappears seconds after cranking up engine. I just ignore it. I keep written log of maintenance with date and mileage anyway.

Tried to do it on my US model 2010 XJL and it didn’t work. Maybe it’s only on newer models?

Sometime around the 2015MY, owners of cars sold in the US were able to reset the service light without any additional tools or equipment. I don't know if this was Federal arm-twisting or an actual regulation.

I'm after doing it on a 2016 XJ, UK model and it worked, didn't work on a 2015 one though.

Someone else said they did this and the message was returned a day or two later. I haven't tried it myself, I just use SDD.

Bought one of these models as I've been looking for a tool that would reset my service required message.
Thanks!

Just for everyone's information this Youtube video worked on my 2016 XJ L 3.0 Supercharged.
I did still purchase an updated OBD reader because I'd like to have it for future diagnostics.
