Xj X351 issues
Dear all,
It's now 3 years i own the 2011 XJ X351 3.0V6 275CV.
It's really a nice car but...
I buy it with 90K kilometers, i now have 164k and i had to change 3 inlet manifold, is it normal ?
This morning i took the car and had two more isses...
1. Windscreen Whipers block sometimes and i have to restart the car to have it working back.
2. The Ventilation has to be at maximum to have some air, but it does not arrive from all the air vent.
Thanks for the advice.
Andrea

Hi Andrea..
Having a 10+ year old luxury motor car is a mixed bag of driving pleasure and maintenance issues..
Given you didn't mention the words "water & pump", are you aware if it's been replaced by the previous owners?
As it has had several revisions over the past 10 years..
The complexity of electronics on a modern Jag leave plenty of small things that may fail over time..
The Inlet being replaced 3 times is not something I've seen on the forums so that is a concern.
Still enjoy driving it?
And Welcome!

Hi Andrea,
I bought mine (x351 V6D 2010) from Germany with 150t km several years ago, now closing 270t km without any major failures. Just normal services. Question: are you using correct engine oil? Oils are known to make plastic britle, and there are reason why engine manufacturers list the suitable oils for the engines...
So, no single manifold has cracked on my one. 12306Jaguar: 3.0V6 275CV are diesel engine, like about 90% of x351 XJ:s are on EU area, and don´t have any problems with "Water & Pump" combination.

Didn't realize the diesels have no water pump issues like the Petrol AJ's...
Cheers all..

Yes still driving it, the water pump failed, but i've done it when i changed the timing belt. i was thinking to change the XJ by a Maserati Quattroporte but i'm not convinced of the interrior.
So i would like to keep the XJ
I had a new Defender... 7 month broken too...
The most reliable car i have are a 1971 fiat 500 and 1973 fiat 600...

In my youghood i had an -74 Fiat 127. The time goldens the memories, but it was not complete error free. There were errors, but defently not free.
Good to hear that you use correct Castrol C1 oils. The only explanation for continous inlet manifold cracking can be that the parts changed have not been good quality?
For electrical gremlins you listed it might be good idea to make complete vehicle reset with factory tool called SDD. Last summer i disconnect battery for awhile. After that air come only from midlle wents. Tryed disconnect battery again, but no help. Either the touching Plus and Minus terminals together not helped (without battery on the car). Once i run complete reset by SDD software, aircon worked again like it should.
