A call out to those of you with a 2017 XJ or XJL; does the glass on the roof help to keep out the heat? Is the glass "attenuated" or described in some manner that it will reflect the sun's heat and UV rays.
I don't know why this is such a difficult question to get answers to. I've had answers from the techs at the dealers, give me conflicting answers, answers that don't make sense, and most don't know what they're talking about. It's very simple; does it or doesn't it help to keep the heat out of the car?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It helps, but the AC has a hard time without the shades extended. You will be protected but heat penetrates Originally Posted by KingFala

From my 2012 brochure: The specially reinforced glass is designed to reflect heat and filter out harmful rays from the sun to ensure the climate control works to its optimum performance.
I've decided to add clear (possibly with minimum tint) Llumar IRX50 installed on the glass roof panels. If there's some protection in the glass, great! It'll just add a bit more heat protection.

Hey King Fala I recommend window film by Llimar and I used Air Series Air 80 BL .https://northamerica.llumar.com/auto...tx-window-tint it worked great on my windshield and is clear.

I would not mess with it. Where you apply tint it’s not glass but a thick protective plastic that’s is applied to the glass. You can see it’s a thick film by looking at the edges. If the tint guys are not careful with razors they will damage that factory film. I have a cut on mine from the previous owner putting a toll transponder and trying to scrape it off. Needless to say they cut the plastic film and scratched it. Originally Posted by KingFala
