Default 1996 xj12 ignition problem

Just bought this one. What a mess inside, took 2 whole days just to clean back seat and front passenger seat.
Anyway, car has sat for a year. No wiring damage that I can see from any kind of rodent. New battery installed. When I put key in ignition and turn to start I have no crank, BUT, all dash lights are on, seat motors, windows, radio, and probably a few other things work.
Headlights, indicators, wipers, can't hear fuel pump, so add to list, starter don't work.
I located the relay for the starter motor, removed it and jumped from one side to the other and engine cranks, so assuming that wiring is good. Also located wiper relay and did same thing, wipers work.
So problem seems to be on the ignition somewhere. Any ideas welcome please.
One last weird thing, central locking also does not operate, but rear passenger side door, when button depressed to lock, it pops back up again.

ok now it works. bypasses BPM, starts like a dream off the ignition key. Yep I beat Jag engineering again. My misspent youth at my Grandfathers factory where he manufactured the super chargers for the Bentleys was not a waste of time after all.
